"They're coming." said the general.
Her heart sank; she knew this day would come. "Tell your best to prepare for battle. Anyone who is able, encourage them to take up arms. Allow whoever wishes to flee, to do so, and that there will be no shame in it. We are against a fowl enemy."
The general bowed gently, his silver eyes solemn. "Yes, your Majesty."
Helena heard the door close and sighed, walking briskly but gracefully down the hall to a neatly decorated nursery. There, nestled in a pink and white laced bassinet, lay her baby. "Mommy will be back, darling." She kissed the baby's head and left for battle.
